When I was young, I studied at Cuiheng Village Memorial Middle School in Zhongshan County. After graduation, he entered Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts and later studied Chinese at Hujiang University.

Soon after, he created the first Cantonese opera "Jiang Yuhua", starring "Little King" Bai Jurong (the father of a famous actress), and began his screenwriter career. His screenwriter is the famous screenwriter Nanhai Shisanlang.

Tang Tisheng married Xue Jueqing, the tenth sister of Xue Juexian, and had a son and a daughter after marriage, but the marriage lasted less than three years before she divorced. Later, in 1942, she married Zheng, a famous Peking Opera actress who was good at dancing and had two daughters. He added the elements of Beijing opera and dance to Cantonese opera. Later, Tang Tisheng studied under Xue Juexian and Feng Zhifen, and assiduously studied the works of Nanhai Shisanlang, Feng Zhifen and Xie Hanfu. When Ren Bai founded the Xianfengming Troupe, he hired Tang Tisheng as the resident screenwriter, and wrote famous plays such as Peony Pavilion, Butterfly Shadow and Red Pear, Queen Flower, The Story of Purple Hairpin, Nine Days Xuan Nv and Red Plum in the Near Future for Xianfengming. Because of his beautiful rhetoric, in-depth description of the emotional world of characters and his own style, he eventually became a master of Cantonese opera and won the reputation of genius.

On the evening of September 1959 and 14, the new drama "Red Plum" of "Xi 'an Troupe" premiered at the Yuli Stage, and Tang Tisheng also attended. In the fourth scene of "Escape from the Trap and Save Pei", unfortunately, he had a sudden cerebral hemorrhage, fainted on the operating table and was sent to a French hospital for rescue. He died the next morning at the age of 42.

In his short life, Tang Tisheng wrote the most brilliant page in the development history of Cantonese opera. He made the development and creation of Cantonese opera enter the most brilliant and prosperous period in the 1950s, trained generations of Cantonese opera actors, and even promoted the trend, attracting countless Cantonese opera lovers and audiences. During the twenty years from 1938 to 1959, he wrote 446 plays, which means that he wrote more than 20 plays every year on average. In fact, in his heyday, he wrote thirty or forty plays every year, of which 1943 wrote 43 and 1944 wrote more than 58, which was the most creative year in his writing career. In addition, he also wrote 170 plays from 1950 to 1955 (only 1950 has 48 plays), which is another peak of his creative career.
