Bao Shengdi opened the catalogue of the Holy King Sanshan King. The four emperors of origin refer to the four gods who dominate the universe under taoist sanqing, namely the Jade Emperor, the Great Emperor of Zhongtian Wei Zibei, the Great Emperor of Gouchen Shanggong and the Great Emperor of Houdi. The Jade Emperor is the Lord of all gods. Wei Zibei, the greatest emperor in Zhongtian, is the king of stars living in Zhongtian and the head of all the stars. Gouchen, the Emperor of Shanggong, is a gouchen composed of four stars on the left side of the throne of the North Pole, which is in the same position as the North Pole and is the hub of the sky. It is the image of the center of heaven and earth. Before the Tang dynasty, it was a male image, and in the Tang dynasty, a female image appeared. Pan Huanghou, Song Zhenzong, built a temple in Songshan to worship the later sage. In the seventh year of Song Huizong Zhenghe (1 1 17), the emblem was: "Inheriting the Great Virtue from Heaven to Earth". After that, Hou Di was made into a female statue. Since the Song Dynasty, the jade emperor's position and role in Taoist gods have been strengthened. Therefore, there are many sayings in Taoist books that the Jade Emperor is arranged outside the "Four Emperors". The "Four Emperors" are interpreted as the heavenly emperors of the four poles, namely, the Wei Zi Emperor in the Arctic, the fairy emperor in the Antarctic, the Tai Chi Emperor and the Tsinghua Emperor in the East. Today, Taoism in China has resumed the concept of "Four Emperors" before the Song Dynasty.
The Jade Emperor is a great god who holds heaven forever, ranking below Sanqing and above the gods. Wei Zibei, the great emperor of Zhongtian, assisted the Jade Emperor in charge of natural latitude, sun, moon, stars and the climate of the four seasons. Taoist books call him "the Lord of the stars, the Jerry of the three realms, second only to Hao Tian, and should be full of energy." Gouchen, the Emperor of Shanggong, assisted the Jade Emperor in charge of the three talents of the North and South poles, heaven and earth, ruled the stars and presided over the military revolution on earth. After the local tyrant only in charge of Yin and Yang fertility, the beauty of all things, the beauty of mountains and rivers. After the Song Dynasty, the four emperors were regarded as four emperors, and they also had their own functions, namely, the Arctic emperor Wei Zi always ruled all kinds of stars, the Antarctic emperor Changsheng always ruled all kinds of gods, the Taiji emperor always ruled all kinds of gods, and the Oriental emperor Qinghua always ruled all kinds of sentient beings.
Besides Sanqing Hall, there are many temples dedicated to Taoism and four royal halls dedicated to four royal gods. In the large-scale ritual activities of fasting, in addition to offering sacrifices to Sanqing, there are also shrines of the Four Emperors. The Taoist book says, "Everyone walks and lives with respect." The four gods also have their own birthdays. The Jade Emperor is on the ninth day of the first month, the Purple Arctic Emperor is on October 27th, the Gouchen Emperor is on the second day of February, and the Houtu Emperor is only on March 18th. Many Taoist believers go to the Taoist temple to burn incense and worship on the birthday of the four royal gods.
