Song Meiling (1897 March 5, 2003-10/October 24) was born in Wenchang, Guangdong (now Hainan). Former first lady of the Republic of China and the fourth wife of Chiang Kai-shek. Song Meiling not only has excellent English skills, but also speaks six languages. His attainments in Chinese painting are also considerable, and he writes well. It is said that Song Meiling also plays the piano quite well, so Song Meiling is a master of piano, chess, calligraphy and painting, and a diplomatic assistant of Chiang Kai-shek. Song Meiling, Song Ailing and Soong Ching Ling are also called the Soong sisters, and his father is Song Jiashu, a wealthy businessman. With the strong support of Confucius and Song families and studying in the United States, he was active in politics, diplomacy and other fields, which had a far-reaching impact on the history of modern China and Sino-US relations. Song Meiling lived in the United States for a long time in his later years and died in the United States on1October 24th, 2003 at the age of 106.
