1982 graduated from the Department of Soil Chemistry of Zhejiang Agricultural University with a bachelor's degree. After graduating from college, he stayed on as a teacher. He worked as a teaching assistant, lecturer and associate professor in the former Department of Soil Chemistry of Zhejiang Agricultural University.
