Dalian University of Technology, referred to as Dagong, is located in Dalian and Bincheng. It is a national key university directly under the central government and the Ministry of Education, and one of the famous "four major engineering colleges" in China. The school was founded in April of 1949, and Dalian University was founded in July of 1950. The school is independent of Dalian University of Technology. 1988 changed its name to its current name in March.
