Ren Haisheng was born on1March, 943 16 in an ordinary peasant family in Dongshanbao, Maye Township, Taoan County, Jilin Province. Because of his poor family, he didn't apply for college. After finishing high school, he went back to his hometown to farm. In the same year, he was absorbed by the township government as a private middle school teacher, and enlisted in the army the following year, serving in the 4928 troops of the Inner Mongolia Military Region.

The prosperity of amateur literature and art in the army gave him the opportunity to create. Because of his first novel, he was chosen by the amateur literary propaganda team of the Communist Youth League, and began to create folk art and opera.

1966, the army recommended him to study in the People's Liberation Army Literature and Art Society. In addition to learning creative theory and writing skills, he also established a group of military writers, which broadened his creative horizons and forged his creative beliefs. He set sail like a sail in a gale and began his creative journey.

1970 He was transferred from the army and became the head of Tongliao County Cultural and Art Troupe. During this period, in order to grasp the stage and get familiar with the stage figures, he personally performed on the stage, starring in plays such as The Younger Generation, The Newcomer in the Mountain Village and The Main Course.

1979, he resolutely resigned as the head of the art troupe and became a professional creator. In just ten years, he published nearly 600,000 words of plays in national and provincial journals, and 80% of his plays were put on the stage. 16 works won national and provincial, municipal and autonomous region awards respectively. At the same time, he also created novellas and many TV literary plays.

His works have a strong Kanto flavor, distinctive characters, eclectic plots, vivid language and theatrical literature, and many of his works have become repertoires of the troupe. His classic plays "The lame God of Wealth", "Yuanyang Guai", "Female Minister" and "A Basket of Eggs" achieved strong theatrical effects in the performance.

The success of his creation gave him what he wanted. He was accepted as a member of Chinese Dramatists Association, elected as the director of Inner Mongolia Branch of Chinese Dramatists Association, the vice chairman of Tongliao Federation of Literary and Art Circles, and the chairman of Tongliao Dramatists Association.

Ren Haisheng died of sudden myocardial infarction on September 1 1 2004 at the age of 62.
