Yueyang Vocational College is a comprehensive higher vocational college organized by Yueyang Municipal People's Government and managed by Hunan Provincial Department of Education. In April 2003, Yueyang Health School, Yueyang Agricultural School, Yueyang Electromechanical School and Yueyang Staff University were merged and upgraded.
The College has become a model vocational college in Hunan Province, an excellent vocational college in Hunan Province, the third batch of modern apprenticeship pilot units in China, the "Top Ten" colleges in student management and teaching management of vocational education in Hunan Province, a national "high-quality college" and a national "double-high college" (that is, a high-level vocational college and professional group with China characteristics), and has obtained the qualification to recruit foreign students in China, and its comprehensive strength ranks among the advanced vocational education in China.
College is a national 3A-level tourist attraction, with a campus area of 1000 mu, a construction area of 300,000 square meters and a total fixed assets of 690 million yuan (original value). There are eight secondary colleges, including nursing college, medical college, electromechanical engineering college, business logistics college, information engineering college, bio-environmental engineering college, international education college and social training college, and two public teaching departments, including basic medicine department and public foundation department.
The College has three second-level legal entities, namely Agricultural Science Center, Affiliated Hospital (Yueyang Hospital) and Guotai Sunshine Nursing Home (Nursing Training Center for the Aged), and six research institutes (institutes), including higher vocational education, nursing for the aged, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, applied technology, Zhang folk culture and Yueyang modern logistics industry development.
