Gansu was called the land of Liang Yong in ancient times.

In the pre-Qin period, China was divided into Kyushu, and Gansu was subordinate to Yong and Liang, formerly known as "the land of Yong and Liang".

Yongzhou generally refers to north-central Shaanxi Province, Gansu Province (except the southeast), northeastern Qinghai Province and Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
