Gu Editor Gu (1945-), a native of Dehui, Jilin, is an academician of China Academy of Sciences, a famous physicist and material scientist, and the former president of Tsinghua University. He has won many awards, such as the He Liang Heli Fund Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the first prize of the Natural Science Award of China University, the fourth second prize of the Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education (State Education Commission), the second prize of the Beijing Science and Technology Progress Award, the National Science and Technology Commission's Award for "Making Important Contributions to the Work during the Seventh Five-Year Plan", and the special prize of excellent teachers of Baosteel Education Fund [1]. He used to be a professor, vice president and head of the Department of Physics in Tsinghua University, a visiting scholar at NotreDame University in the United States and Tokyo University in Japan, and a visiting professor at Tohoku University in Japan. At present, he is a member of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee, convener of physics and astronomy appraisal group, member of National Science and Technology Award Committee, chairman of physics and astronomy teaching steering committee of Ministry of Education, vice chairman of Chinese Physics Society, director of Asia-Pacific Physics Society, chairman of Chinese Stereology Society, chairman of China Micro-Nano Technology Society and vice chairman of China Environmental Protection Federation. [2] 1945 was born in dehui city, Jilin province, and grew up in Baotou, Inner Mongolia. 1960 to 1965 studied in Baotou No.9 Middle School and graduated from Wuhu No.1 Middle School. 1965 entered Tsinghua University to study. 1970. From March 1973 to July 1975, and from June 1978 to June 1979, I studied in Tsinghua University Solid State Physics Seminar. 1979 went to study in Aarhus University, Denmark, and 1982 received his doctorate. 1999 was elected as an academician of China Academy of Sciences, and now he is the chairman of Beijing Association for Science and Technology.
