The College of Food Science and Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology was founded in February 2005, and its predecessor was the Institute of Food Science and Genetic Engineering of Harbin Institute of Technology.

The college consists of food science department, food engineering department, biochemistry department, food safety research center and Sino-French International Dairy Science and Technology Laboratory (HIT-INRA). National Light Industry Beet Industry Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, Heilongjiang Sugar Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Station and National Beet Industry Standardization Center are affiliated to our institute. June 5438+February 2005, the "Sino-French Dairy College" was established with the college as the main body and the French National Academy of Agricultural Sciences as the support. China beet industry, edited and published by our institute, is the only Chinese sci-tech core periodical of beet industry in China, and Bioinformatics is the Chinese sci-tech core periodical published in 2004.

The college has 39 faculty members, including 4 professors and 3 doctoral supervisors. Teachers with doctoral degrees account for 48% of the total number of teachers, and young teachers who are studying for doctoral degrees account for 35% of the total number of teachers with master's degrees. Overseas (Irish) part-time doctoral tutor 1 person, 3 overseas part-time professors (USA, Taiwan Province, Japan), and domestic part-time professors 1 person.

The college has now formed a multi-level school-running system such as undergraduate and postgraduate training. Since 2004, doctoral and master students majoring in biochemical engineering have been enrolled under the first-class doctoral program in chemical engineering and technology. In 2005, undergraduates majoring in food science and engineering were enrolled, and in 2007, postgraduates majoring in food science were enrolled.

The College has undertaken a number of scientific research projects, such as the National "863" Plan, national key science and technology projects, special science and technology projects of the Ministry of Agriculture, provincial and municipal key scientific research projects and funds, as well as horizontal projects between enterprises and departments and other international cooperation projects. Research fields include food safety and quality control, food safety standardization research, theory and technology of milk and dairy products, modern agricultural products processing technology, equipment and quality, separation and purification technology of natural bioactive components, development and utilization of functional foods and new food resources, biological reaction process control and bioreactor design, food fermentation technology and engineering, food biotechnology, and basic theoretical research of food science.

Since its establishment, the college has adhered to the concept of running a school with a high starting point and internationalization. In just two years, we have established extensive cooperation in teaching and research with internationally renowned universities and research institutions such as French Academy of Agricultural Sciences, J R Laboratory in Canada and Rennes Agricultural College in France. Since 2005, the College has jointly trained doctoral students majoring in dairy products with French Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and jointly trained master students majoring in dairy products and food biotechnology with Rennes Agricultural College in France, which will train more outstanding talents for food science research and food industry in China.

The College of Food Science and Engineering attaches great importance to scientific research. Since its establishment in 2003, it has undertaken and completed two key scientific and technological projects in the Tenth Five-Year Plan, the National Natural Science Foundation Project 1, the National "863" Plan Project 1, two special research projects of scientific research institutes of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Chunhui Plan Project of the Ministry of Education 1, and major and key research projects and fund projects of provinces and cities. In the past three years, a total of 13 scientific research projects have been identified, and 6 scientific research projects have been identified in cooperation with enterprises. Won the second prize of Heilongjiang Province, the third prize 1, the third prize of the Ministry of Agriculture 1, and authorized the invention patent 1. Jointly develop rapid detection technology of pesticide residues with JR Experiment in Canada, and carry out in-depth cooperative research with INRA in dairy processing technology, dairy biotechnology and dairy microorganisms. During the 11th Five-Year Plan period, the College will continue to make efforts to strengthen horizontal cooperation with enterprises and foreign scientific and technological cooperation.
