Professor Yan Jie's main works include Ouyang Xiu's Chronicle (Nanjing Publishing House, 1993), Selected Translation of Notes Novels in Tang and Five Dynasties (Selected Translation Series of Ancient Literary and Historical Masterpieces, Bashu Publishing House, 1990) and Complete Translation of Literary and Historical Works (Complete Translation Series of China Ancient Masterpieces, Guizhou People's Publishing House,/kloc-0). Participated in compiling the Dictionary of Tang Poetry (Jiangsu Ancient Books Publishing House, 1990) and Anecdotes of Tang People (Shanghai Ancient Books Publishing House, 1995).

Professor Yan Jie's main papers include "The Origin of Han Yu's Uneven Sound" (Jianghai Journal 1988 1), Biography of Datang (Journal of Ancient Books Research 1990 5) and Yuquan Zikao (2005).
