The rivers in Zuoyun County belong to the Yellow River and Haihe River. The drainage area is 78 square kilometers and 1.236 square kilometers respectively. The main rivers are Shili River, Maying River, Zi Yuan River, Chenjiahe River, Danan River, Dayu River, Shanjing River and Nihe River.

Shili River is the most important river in Zuoyun County. The water classics notes are called Wuzhou Chuanshui, and Shanxi Tongzhi is called Xiaohua River. There are more than 20 tributaries of Yin Hui Mountain and Hongtao Mountain, which cross the county seat and flow through five towns, with a total length of 50 kilometers and a drainage area of 93 1 km2.
