Following the establishment of the headquarters of Slender West Lake New Area, the municipal party committee and municipal government decided to set up the Party Working Committee and Management Committee of Shugang-Slender West Lake Scenic Area. Shugang-Slender West Lake Scenic Area, with a total area of 12.23 square kilometers, consists of five scenic spots: Lvyang Village Scenic Area, Slender West Lake Scenic Area, Bijia Mountain Scenic Area, Tangzicheng Scenic Area and Shugang Scenic Area. With important historical and cultural relics and Yangzhou garden features, it was designated as the second batch of national key scenic spots by the State Council in August 1988.
