20 13 From September 27th to 28th, on the occasion of the 2564th birthday of Confucius, a great thinker, educator and founder of Confucianism, the 6th World Congress of Confucianism was held in Qufu, the hometown of Confucius. Experts and scholars from China, Hongkong, Taiwan Province Province, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Israel, Australia, Britain, Ireland, Russia, the United States and other 120 countries and regions, as well as 60 Confucian research institutions and academic groups, expressed their views on "Confucianism and ecological civilization" around the theme of "Confucianism and contemporary social construction"

On the morning of September 27th, 20 13, the conference held the opening ceremony and the awarding ceremony of the 20 13 Confucius Cultural Award. Vice Governor Li E, Deputy Secretary-General of the provincial government, Wang Nengxian, Executive Vice President of China Academy of Art, Jia, Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Culture, Wu Weihua, Vice Chairman of china confucius foundation, Niu Xiping, Secretary General of international confucian association, Secretary of Jining Municipal Committee, Director of the Standing Committee of the Municipal People's Congress, Deputy Secretary of Jining Municipal Committee and Mayor Mei Yonghong, Secretary General of the Municipal Committee, Vice Mayor Wu Jiwen, Party Secretary of Confucius Institute Zhuang, Chao Ming, etc. Professor Li Xueqin of Tsinghua University and Professor Roger T. Ames of the University of Hawaii won this year's Confucius Cultural Award.

The conference was hosted by the Ministry of Culture of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the People's Government of Shandong Province, with the assistance of China Academy of Art, Shandong Provincial Department of Culture, Institute of Advanced Confucianism of Shandong University, Confucius Foundation of China People's Government, international confucian association, Jining City and Confucius Institute. The meeting also discussed and adopted the newly revised Constitution of the World Confucian Congress. According to the new constitution, starting from this session, the World Congress of Confucianism will be changed from once a year to once every two years, and the Confucius Cultural Award will also be selected once every two years.
