Li Guangnian, 192 1 was born in Beijing in April. 1945 graduated from the chemistry department of Beijing Normal University. In his early years, he engaged in theoretical organic chemistry and organic synthetic chemistry, and studied the extraction, separation, structural determination and total synthesis of effective components of Chinese herbal medicines such as Belamcanda and Stigma Maydis, as well as the synthesis of antibiotics such as chlortetracycline, which made contributions to the development of Chinese medicine and organic synthetic chemistry.
