This is the guy. You must see him often.
GC received a bachelor's degree in biology and philosophy from McDaniel College (199 1), and a doctorate in marine science from the University of Texas. From 1996 to 1998, GC served as research assistant professor at the University of South Carolina. GC once said that only the previous years' work made him happy. As his rank rises, he needs to spend more and more time writing grant applications and completing paperwork and departmental political work. GC found that his major kept repeating the same work.
Ensemble Studios, the production team behind the Empire Times series of real-time strategy games, hired GC as a designer at 1998. Prior to this, GC, who had no educational background and working experience in the game industry, speculated that he was accepted by Ensemble Studios because of "his writing and teaching experience, the breadth of historical knowledge, personal hygiene, gudd speling (I don't know what it is), creativity and talent for catching live crocodiles", and the idea of user-defined scenes attached to his resume, which later appeared in Age of Empires: The Rise of Rome. Since the rise of Rome, GC has developed every imperial game since then, until he left his job. At first his job was to design game scenes and maps, but when he left, he was the chief designer of the team.

GC was employed by Blizzard Entertainment in February 2008, and is currently the chief system designer of World of Warcraft, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game. In the World of Warcraft Forum, his user name "Ghostcrawler" is widely known. GC's work in Blizzard is similar to Ensemble Studio. "Game designers are not artists or programmers, but we use tools developed by programmers and things made by artists to integrate them into the game.
The programmer's job is to make the game run, the artist's job is to make the game more beautiful and the designer's job is to make the game more interesting. GC was widely known during the public beta of World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, because he often communicated with testers in the forum at that time. He often announces some game changes on the forum or discusses game changes with players, because "game balance is one of the most controversial parts for any multiplayer game, and I can directly benefit from participating in community communication activities".
