Miao Bao, scientific name, Chinese name. Male, born in 1927, from Longtang Village, Tang Kai Township, Kaili City, Guizhou Province. Before liberation, he studied English literature in the Foreign Literature Department of National Guizhou University. 1950 Graduated from English Literature Department of Foreign Languages Department of Guizhou University; 1957 Graduated from Linguistics Department of Central University for Nationalities. Miao Wen, former editor-in-chief of Guizhou Ethnic Publishing House; 1960 Tune the Folk Literature Group of Guizhou Federation of Literary and Art Circles; Guizhou Folk Literature and Art Research Association was established in 1980, and has served as executive director, deputy secretary-general, deputy director of theoretical committee and deputy director of folk committee. He used to be the academic director of Guizhou Ethnic Culture Society, the consultant of Kaili Federation of Literary and Art Circles, the folk consultant of the TV film Miao Family Dragon filmed by Beijing Science and Education Film Studio, and the guiding consultant of Japanese non-governmental organizations to shoot a documentary about Miao folk life.

In 2006, Feng Jicai Folk Culture Foundation and China Folk Writers Association jointly launched the "Watcher of China Folk Culture" selection activity, which was the first time for China to select and reward the devotees who protected the spiritual homeland of national folk culture. Yan Bao, a well-known Miao scholar in our province, has become one of the candidates for "China Folk Culture Watcher" 1 1 from all over the country because of his outstanding contribution in rescuing minority folk literature, and won the nomination award.

Yan Bao, who is nearly eighty years old, has been engaged in folk literature research all his life. Collecting folk literature materials is a very boring and complicated job. He traveled all over the fields and villages in Guizhou, and recorded and collected a large number of folk documents. Work silently for the rescue and protection of folk culture in our province. There are a large number of works, including Selected Miao Folk Stories in Guizhou, Selected Guizhou Myths and Legends, Miao Ancient Songs (two volumes in Chinese and Miao Chinese), Youfang Songs (two volumes in Guizhou Love Songs), Miao Folk Poetry, Format and Rhythm of Shui Folk Songs, and Introduction to Shui Literature.
