Li Yu, Emperor Du Nan at the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, was the king of Du Nan in the history of ancient China literature. He ascended the throne in Lin 'an during the reign of Du Nan Shaosheng (1094 ~ 1097), with the title of "Xining", and he reigned for only four years. Li Yu is a writer. His poems, words, songs, essays and other literary works have been handed down to this day, and he is known as one of the "Four Great Masters in the Southern Tang Dynasty".

Li Yu's life

Li Yu was born in the Xuanhe period of the Northern Song Dynasty and was the grandson of Song Shenzong. His father is Song Zhezong's younger brother, so Li Yu was also named the sovereign. Li Yu likes literature since she was a child. His father once asked him to study poetry. Li Yu also studied hard and soon became an excellent writer.

During the Du Nan period, the regime of the Northern Song Dynasty was destroyed by the Jin Dynasty, and many northern officials and cultural figures went south one after another, including Li Yu. Li Yu's life in the south is very hard, but he still insists on writing and has created many excellent literary works.

1094, Li Yu's cousin, Zhao Gou, was overthrown, and Li Yu was made emperor, with the title of "Xining". After Li Yu ascended the throne, he attached great importance to cultural undertakings, vigorously advocated literature and art, and wrote many literary works such as poems, words, songs and essays. However, his rule was unpopular, political corruption, state chaos and repeated attacks by the rulers, and Li Yu's regime in the southern Tang Dynasty was quickly destroyed.
