When he was alive, his surname was not Yan, but Zhuang, a descendant of Zhuang Zhou, a representative of Taoism. In order to avoid the anonymity of Emperor Liu Zhuang, later historians changed his surname Zhuang to Yan. Yan Guang was eager to learn from an early age. On his way to school, he met his teacher, Mei Fu, who was an important person who influenced Yan Guang to become a hermit.
Yan Guang believes that the most important thing in life is to pursue the pure land of the soul. In the mountains, he can stay away from worldly troubles, concentrate on cultivating his own mind and pursue inner peace and tranquility. Yan Guang's seclusion made him a model for later generations. His loyalty and noble quality influenced the social atmosphere at that time and became a part of China traditional culture.
Many literary works take Yan Guang as the protagonist, such as Historical Records, Hanshu and other historical books have records about Yan Guang. At the same time, Yan Guang's story has become a symbol of loyalty and noble quality in China traditional culture, which has influenced countless future generations.
Character life:
In the first year of Jianwu (25 years), Liu Xiu established the Eastern Han Dynasty, so Yan Guang lived in seclusion on the Fuchun River in Tonglu and fished every day. Since then, this place is the Diaoyutai in Yan Ziling, Tonglu. Liu Xiusixian was very nostalgic, so he ordered him to visit Yan Guang all over the country. Qi reported that a man dressed in sheepskin was fishing in Zehe River. Liu Xiu suspected that it was Yan Guang, so he sent a special envoy to prepare a car and Meng Xuan, and he began to work in Luoyang, Kyoto.
After giving advice to the doctor, Yan Guang refused to accept it, so he retired to Fuchun Mountain (now Tonglu County, Zhejiang Province) to study and fish. Later generations named the place where he fished Yanling Sese. In the seventeenth year of Jianwu (4 1), the court called him once, but Yan Guang refused. Yan Guang died at home at the age of 80. Liu Xiu was deeply grieved and was buried in Guqianhu, Zhao County, and his tomb was in Chen Shan (Kexingshan).
