Guo Qiyong, male, Han nationality, from Wuhan, 1947. 1978 was admitted to the philosophy department of Wuhan university, 198 1 was admitted to the master's degree. He studied under Professor Xiao, Li Deyong. 1984 graduated and stayed in school to teach philosophy. 1989 1 promoted to associate professor. 1in August, 1992, he obtained the doctorate of philosophy from Wuhan University. 10 was promoted to professor in March, 1993, and was added as doctoral supervisor in June of the same year. He used to be Dean of the School of Humanities, Dean of the School of Philosophy and President of the International China Philosophical Society (ISCP). At present, he is the deputy director of China Traditional Culture Research Center, a member of the Philosophy Evaluation Group of the State Council Academic Degree Committee, the deputy director of the Philosophy Teaching Steering Committee of the Ministry of Education, the executive vice president of the International China Philosophy Society, the director and academic member of the International Confucian Association, the vice president of the Chinese Philosophy History Society, and the vice president of the Confucius Institute in China. He was invited to be a visiting scholar at Harvard University and Kansai University in the United States, and a visiting professor at Trier University and Taiwan Province University of Political Science in China. He has given lectures at Harvard University, Tokyo University, Waseda University, Munich University, Leipzig University, Russian Academy of Sciences, Seoul National University, Taiwan Province Provincial University and Chinese University of Hong Kong. From 1993, enjoy the special allowance of the State Council. He was awarded the second prize of the first outstanding achievement in humanities and social sciences by the State Education Commission, Baosteel Excellent Teacher Award, Hubei Provincial Government Excellent Teaching Achievement Award (both ranked first), Hubei Provincial Government Excellent Achievement Award in Social Sciences (2004), Hubei Provincial Teaching Master (2004) and National Teaching Master (2006). In 2008, he served as the chief expert of "The History of China Philosophy", a major project of the National Social Science Fund. Mainly engaged in the teaching and research of China's philosophy history, specializing in Confucian philosophy and 20th century China philosophy. Published more than 100 papers in academic journals at home and abroad. His major works include: The Source of China's Philosophical Wisdom, The Spirit of Confucianism in China, The History of China's Philosophy, A Study of Xiong Shili's Thought, Selected Works of Guo Qiyong, An Introduction to Cultural Studies, etc. The main courses are: the history of China's philosophy, an introduction to the Four Books, an introduction to Lao Zi and Zhuang Zi, China culture, Confucian philosophy, methodology of philosophy history, and book of rites reading.
