Zou Yi is from Quxian County, Sichuan Province. A member of China Printing History Research Committee, he made a thorough and systematic study of ancient movable type printing, and wrote an academic monograph of more than 400,000 words, Textual Research on Millennium Movable Type Printing, which has been published by China Social Sciences Publishing House, and is the first monograph on movable type identification in China.
