2013 On August 20th, the reporter learned from the Propaganda Department of Gushi County Committee of Henan Province that the 5th Central Plains (Gushi) Root-seeking Culture Festival, the hometown of Tang people and the ancestral land of Fujian and Taiwan, has been listed as a key exchange project with Taiwan in 2065 438+03 by the Taiwan Province Affairs Office of the State Council and will be held in Gushi, Henan Province from September 25th to 27th.

It is reported that this cultural festival will be held on the principle of "improving specifications, controlling scale, expanding influence and being flexible and diverse". Compared with the previous four cultural festivals, it will pay more attention to thrift and pragmatism, and pay more attention to cultural exchange, resource development and economic and trade cooperation. The root-seeking festival lasts for three days, and its main activities include: the opening ceremony and the gathering of entrepreneurs from Fujian and Taiwan in Gushi, the sixth seminar on the relationship between Fujian and Taiwan in Gushi, the worship of ancestors who moved south, the exhibition of paintings and calligraphy works from three places across the Taiwan Strait, the genealogy exhibition of ancestors who moved south, the promotion and experience activities of root-seeking trip in the Central Plains of Fujian and Taiwan (Gushi), the clan theme activities, and the selection activities of "Top Ten" famous snacks in Gushi.

Gushi is known as "the first hometown of overseas Chinese in the Central Plains". In history, there have been many immigrants to the south, including four large-scale immigrants, with a total of more than 10,000 people, especially the establishment of father and son in the early Tang Dynasty and the unification of Ba Min by Wang Brothers in the late Tang Dynasty. According to the literature, among the top 100 surnames in Taiwan Province Province, 63 surnames are marked as "Gwangju Gushi" in their genealogy. Descendants of Gushi immigrants who moved south gradually spread to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, "Nanyang" and Europe and America. Since the reform and opening up, many descendants of Gushi ethnic groups have returned to their homeland, seeking roots and ancestors, investing in industry, and returning to their ancestral lands, which has formed a unique cultural phenomenon of root-seeking, brought out the economic phenomenon of root-seeking, and brought strong development momentum to Gushi County. The opening ceremony was presided over by Qu Shangying, the county magistrate of Gushi County People's Government.
