(1927 65438+February 2003 -20031October 65438+1October) was born in Mizhi County, Shaanxi Province, and is the eldest daughter of Du, a senior Kuomintang general. Born into a military family in Du Zhili, she received a strict education since childhood and loved literature and music, which won the favor of Chiang Kai-shek's wife Song Meiling.

When I was a teenager, I happened to be in War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression, studying in the middle school attached to The National SouthWest Associated University. On 1944, Du Zhili, a senior high school student in The National SouthWest Associated University High School, met her math teacher Yang Zhenning. From 65438 to 0947, Du Zhili went to the United States to study alone and entered the famous American women's college "Wesley College" arranged by Song Meiling to study English literature. However, her father Du was captured in the Huaihai Campaign, and his family came down. In order to save money, Du Zhili transferred to new york Saint Vincent College.

1949 On Christmas Day, Du Zhili met Yang Zhenning, whom he hadn't seen for five years, in the Tea Garden Restaurant, a Chinese restaurant in Princeton.

1950 On August 26th, 28-year-old Yang Zhenning and 23-year-old Du Zhili got married in Princeton.

1952 returned to Taiwan Province Province and became an English teacher in Hualien Middle School. After that, he moved to the United States and lived with her husband, Yang Zhenning.

Du Zhili has been a Chinese teacher at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She and Yang Zhenning spent most of their time in Princeton. They lived together for 53 years, and Du Zhili died of illness in June 2003.
