Qianjiang River is located in Jianghan Plain in central Hubei Province, bordering Hanshui River in the north and Yangtze River in the south. Located in the lower reaches of the Han River, across the banks of the Dongjing River and the upper and lower reaches of the Xijing River, it has a subtropical monsoon humid climate. Qianjiang is an important member of Wuhan city circle and urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River. In 965 (the third year of Song Gande), the county was built. Jianghan Oilfield, one of the top ten oilfields in China, has jurisdiction over three provincial-level economic development zones, six state-owned farms and 16 towns, and is known as "Cao Yu's hometown, Jianghan oil city, water garden and lobster town".

Qianjiang City is located in the hinterland of Jianghan Plain, east longitude112 29' to113 01',and north latitude 30 04' to 30 39'. It is located in the lower reaches of the Han River, across the Dongjing River and the upper and lower Xijing Rivers. It is 0/54km east of Hanyu (Quankou) Highway in huayuan town/KLOC-County, and 75km west of Jingzhou Town, where Jingzhou District Administrative Office is located.

The easternmost point of the county is east of Xingfu Gate on the left bank of Dongjing River, the western end is in Xihuangtai on the right bank of Hu Si's main canal (upstream section of the main canal), the southern end is in Yaotai in the south of Wucha, and the northern end is in Liujiahuo on the right bank of the Han River. The horizontal distance from east to west is 5 1.3km, and the longitudinal length from north to south is 64.4km, covering an area of 2000 square kilometers. ?

Qianjiang City is a part of Jianghan Basin in geological structure, which is composed of secondary structural units such as Qianjiang Depression, Yajiao-Xingou Low Uplift and Jiangling Depression. Qianjiang presents a plain landform with interwoven rivers and canals, vertical and horizontal riverbanks, protruding beaches and dikes, flat fields with low ridges and dish-shaped lakes and ponds. There are no mountains in Qianjiang, and the terrain is low. From north to south, from Dongjing River to its hinterland on the east and west sides, it is slightly inclined. The highest platform is located between Pengtan and Gonghe Village, hedi village, on the right bank of the northern Han River, with an altitude of 38 meters, and the lowest is in the aquatic teams of two farms in the south, with an altitude of 24 meters.
