Beware of moles turning into cancer! Dr. Li Zhengyuan, Bei Rong: Judging by ABCDE law.
The 5-year survival rate of melanoma is only about 20%. Although the prevalence rate of melanoma in Taiwan Province Province is110 in Europe and America, it is late when it is discovered, and patients may face the problem of lymph node metastasis, and the mortality rate is very high!

Congenital nevus turns cancer into melanoma!

Mr. Chen (a pseudonym), who works as a public security officer at a construction site in his fifties, has had a mole from his right hip. With the increase of age, the mole gradually grows to about 10 cm. Until recent months, the mole on the right side began to itch and gradually protrude. After scratching with the hand, there was local bleeding. After examination, skin section and imaging examination, it was diagnosed that melanocytic nevus transformed into malignant melanoma and invaded metastatic pelvic lymph nodes.

After extensive anatomical surgery to remove pelvic and mouse lymph nodes, melanoma cancer cells still spread to abdominal wall, lung and other parts of the body, such as abdominal wall and lung. At present, immunotherapy for melanoma cancer has significantly reduced the metastatic mass of abdominal wall.

Dr Li Zhengyuan from Beirong Dermatology Department said: "Both nevus and melanoma are related to the constitution of congenital genes. If you have a family history of melanoma, you should pay special attention to observe whether the mole has protrusions and color changes, so as not to delay medical treatment and lead to systemic metastasis of cancer cells. 」

Does ABCDE standard determine whether nevus is cancerous?

Dr. Li Zhengyuan said: People can judge whether nevus cancer becomes melanoma according to ABCDE's law.

A is symmetrical asymmetry: if the mole is asymmetrical, it means that one side grows faster than the other, which is a sign of cancer and needs special attention.

B is the boundary: the boundary of benign nevus is smooth and clear; Cancerous nevus may have protrusions, serrations or missing horns, and there is no obvious boundary, and the black color will fade to gray and disappear.

C is color: the color of benign nevus is uniform; If moles appear in different shades, surrounded by a circle of white, or with asymmetric colors, it is necessary to pay attention to the possible signs of cancer. D is diameter: moles with a diameter greater than 0.6 cm should be careful that they may develop into cancer.

E to change the evolution: if the mole produces rapid protrusion, enlargement, discoloration or bleeding itching, there may be a problem.

Therefore, even if there are moles or newborn moles since childhood, if ABCDE changes, you need to seek medical treatment as soon as possible and seek the help of dermatologists.

People with a body size greater than 20 cm or a mole number greater than 50 should pay special attention to strengthening sun protection.

In addition to the ABCDE rule, Dr. Jung-Won Lee also said, "According to scientific literature, the probability of malignant melanoma is about 2% for congenital nevus larger than 20 cm. For example, a congenital mole with a face larger than 12 cm at birth or a body larger than 6-7 cm may grow to more than 20 cm in adulthood. Whether small moles will increase the risk of melanoma is still controversial in the scientific community. 」

"People with more than 50 moles all over the body, people who are particularly prone to grow moles, or people with a family history of melanoma should pay special attention to the high-risk groups of melanoma. If you suspect that your mole has a tendency to become cancerous, you should continue to observe and record it for medical treatment. In addition to simply observing with your eyes, you can also clearly record it with your camera or mobile phone. 」

"In addition, according to research, exposure to ultraviolet rays in the sun is one of the main causes of melanoma and other skin cancers. Therefore, we should pay attention to physical or chemical sun protection, use products with SPF above 20+, and avoid excessive exposure in the sun. 」
