Ningling County is a county under the jurisdiction of Shangqiu City, located in the southeast of Henan Province, bordering Shangqiu City in the east, Suixian County in the west, Zhecheng County in the south and Shangqiu City and Minquan County in the north.

Ningling County is 37km east of Shangqiu, 70km from Xuzhou/KLOC-0, 96km west of Kaifeng, 82km from Zhengzhou/KLOC-0, 400km south of Nanjing and 700km from Shanghai. It is a bridge and link between the western coastal areas and the eastern and western regions.

The main rivers in Ningling County are Dasha River, Taohe River, Shangqingshui River and ancient Song He. Dasha River originated in the eastern part of Minquan County, and flows through six towns such as Luogang and Yeung Yi in Ningling County. It flows eastward about 2 kilometers west of the city, enters Shangqiu City, joins the Wohe River in Bozhou City, Anhui Province, then enters the Huaihe River with the Wohe River, and finally enters the sea, becoming the mother river of Ningling County.
