"Yang Jiajiang" mainly tells the touching story of four generations of Yang family defending northern Xinjiang and serving the country faithfully. When it comes to villains, we have to mention Pan Renmei, and Pan Renmei has become a well-known traitor because of "Yang Jiajiang". Although this Pan Renmei is fictional, Pan Renmei is modeled after Pan Mei.
Pan Mei was one of the founding generals of the Northern Song Dynasty, a famous soldier in the early years of the Northern Song Dynasty, participated in the mutiny in Chen Qiao, and was also one of the military commanders who proclaimed himself Zhao Kuangyin. Together with Zhao Kuangyin of Song Taizu, he made great contributions to the establishment of the Song Dynasty.
The military commander who has this brilliant military exploits is only responsible for Yang Ye's death in the battlefield, unlike Pan Mei's conspiracy and personal vendetta in the deductive novel.
During the periods of Zhao Kuangyin in Song Taizu and Zhao Guangyi in Song Taizong, Pan Mei has always been valued. It can be seen from the generals used by Song Taizu to unify the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms that Pan Mei was trusted by Zhao Kuangyin at that time. In 970, led the troops to attack and destroy the Southern Han Dynasty; In 974, Jiangnan was pacified, that is, Li Yu's Southern Tang Dynasty; Pan Mei appeared in the war against the Northern Han Dynasty in 974. After Zhao Guangyi ascended the throne, Pan Mei was a general in the crusade against the Northern Han Dynasty. By the time the Northern Han Dynasty was assessed, Pan Mei's official position had been promoted to the middle position, and our time was named Han Gong. One of his daughters married Zhao Guangyi's third son, Zhao Heng, who later became Song Zhenzong.
After the Northern Han Dynasty was destroyed, Yang Ye followed his master Liu Jiyuan to the Northern Song Dynasty. Because Yang Ye was familiar with frontier affairs, he still appointed Yang Ye as the secretariat of Daizhou, granted the right commander-in-chief Wei, and stayed here for a long time to resist Liao soldiers. This is the intersection of Pan Mei and Yang Ye.
During his reign, he attacked Liao twice in an attempt to recapture sixteen states. One of them was in 986, when he was attacked by Emperor Taizong. Zhao Guangyi sent five generals, including Pan Mei and Yang Ye, to make a three-way northern expedition. However, the northern expedition was not smooth, and the main force was repeatedly hit hard by the Liao army, and the food and grass were cut off. Yang Ye was in charge of the First Route Army, mainly to cover the retreat of the people in the southern states. Wang Shu, a supervisor who lacks operational experience but is in power, made a command mistake. He didn't get the support of strong crossbow infantry at the appointed meeting point. Wang Shu and others strive for success and lead his men to leave early, but Pan Mei can't stop them. Finally, Yang Ye was captured by the Liao army and finally died.
Song Taizong was very sad when he heard that Yang Ye had died. Pan Mei, the general, was demoted to the third class, and Wang Shu and Liu Wenyu, the army supervisors, were dismissed and exiled.
Actually, according to the history of Song Dynasty, Pan Mei and Yang Ye were close at that time, but they didn't fight for it. He listened to the words of the prison army, and Wang Shu tried to stop him when he left with the army, but it didn't have much effect. It seems that Pan Mei is not the biggest responsibility for Yang Ye's death. Judging from the punishment after the war, the same is true. Pan Mei was only demoted, and both prison troops were dismissed and sent. In fact, Pan Mei died the year after he was demoted. After his death, posthumous title became Wu Hui and belonged to Song Taizong Temple. It can be seen that the imperial court did not let Pan Mei take the blame.
