The Monkey King or Dapeng?
Dapeng is awesome. First of all, in terms of qualifications, Dapeng is a demon king who existed in ancient times. He escaped several big robberies (dragon and phoenix robbery, god robbery) and became a Buddhist protector. His seniority is higher (such as the explanation of "mother-in-law" in The Journey to the West), and his position is far above that of Bodhisattva and Lohan, so few Buddhists can be equal to him. It took only six or seven hundred years for the Monkey King to learn Buddhist scriptures from birth, far less than Dapeng.

Secondly, judging from the attitude of other characters, the lion and the white elephant in the original work are very disdainful of the Monkey King, but they respect Dapeng, the "third brother", and even respectfully ask him to make up his mind if something happens, as if he were the eldest brother. Actually, Dapeng is the real boss. He likes to enjoy the wealth of the world. He doesn't want to live in a cave with wild "beasts" like green lions and white elephants. He ran to a country on earth and became an emperor, leaving the demon soldiers in the demon cave to their care. He won't do anything important himself. He is the boss behind Lion Tuoling. Princess Peacock (the niece of Dapeng) reminded Tang Priest and his disciples to pay special attention to Dapeng, but did not mention the great white elephant, the green lion, which also shows that Dapeng is not in the same level as them.

Finally, there was a fight, and TV dramas generally didn't embarrass the Monkey King in order to maintain his heroic image. Therefore, in the TV series, the two men only had a short fight, while in the original book, the fight between the two men was completely Dapeng's unilateral abuse of vegetables, and the Monkey King was powerless to fight back. Even in the past, he couldn't escape the somersault cloud (Dapeng's wings are a nine-Wan Li, two fans catch up, flapping their wings much faster than somersaults), and the Monkey King's eagle catches it back like a chicken. Only Tathagata is Dapeng in Journey to the West!

In the original book, the Monkey King just cried twice from the heart. Once, he was cheated by a leopard, thinking that Tang Priest was dead, and he cried sadly. On another occasion, the lion camel bell met Dapeng, but failed to escape. He cried in despair, which can be said to be the most embarrassing time for monkeys. Don't be misled by TV dramas and cartoons. The Monkey King is not so bad. There are too many people who can easily clean him up in the original Journey to the West.
