It is mainly used to process various workpieces with complex shapes and fine precision, such as punches, concave dies, convex and concave dies, fixed plates, discharge plates and so on. Forming tools, templates, metal electrodes for EDM, all kinds of fine holes, grooves, arbitrary curves, etc.
It has the outstanding advantages of small machining allowance, high machining precision, short production cycle and low manufacturing cost, and has been widely used in production. At present, WEDM machine tools at home and abroad account for more than 60% of the total number of EDM machines.
Extended data
1 EDM speed and surface quality
Generally, EDM of dies adopts three-step machining methods: rough, medium and fine. Rough machining is realized with high power and low loss, while the relative loss of electrode is relatively large during medium and fine machining, but generally speaking, the allowance of medium and fine machining is very small, so the electrode loss is also very small, which can be compensated by controlling the machining size or ignored without affecting the accuracy requirements.
2. EDM carbon slag and slag discharge
EDM can only be carried out smoothly under the conditions of producing carbon slag and eliminating the balance of carbon slag. In practical machining, carbon slag is often removed at the expense of machining speed, for example, high voltage and large static pulse wave are used in medium and fine machining. Another reason that affects the removal of carbon residue is the complex shape of the machined surface, which makes the chip removal path not smooth. Only by actively creating good exclusion conditions and taking some measures to deal with it.
