Zhang Xueliang was 35 years old at the time of the Xi Incident.

The Xi 'an Incident, also known as the "Double Twelve Incident", is a historical event in which Zhang Xueliang and Yang Hucheng launched a "remonstration" in Xi 'an in order to persuade Chiang Kai-shek to change the established national policy of "doing things outside", stop the civil war and unite against Japan.
