Born in Yangzhou City, Jiangsu Province in July,1963;

1985 graduated from the physics department of Nanjing University with a bachelor's degree in semiconductor.

1July, 988, graduated from the Department of Physics of China University of Science and Technology with a master's degree in semiconductor.

1995 graduated from Institute of Materials Science (IMR), Tohoku University, Japan, with a doctorate;

In 2000, he was promoted to professor;

In 2003, he won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars;

In 2004, he was hired as Changjiang distinguished professor of the Ministry of Education.

He used to be a visiting researcher at the Institute of Industrial Technology (IIS) of the University of Tokyo, a visiting professor at the Advanced Science and Technology Research Center (RCAST) of the University of Tokyo, a visiting professor at the Electronics and Photonics Research Center of Chiba University in Japan, and a visiting professor at the Japan Institute of Industrial Technology (AIST). Currently, he is the deputy director of Peking University Institute of Physics and the deputy director of Broadband Gap Semiconductor Research Center.
