Wu Guoping, born in Yixing, 1964+00, Ph.D., now works in the Department of Geographic Information Science, School of Geography and Marine Science, Nanjing University. The main research and work directions are GIS theory research and development, land and resources planning and management, digital earth, physical geography, geographical modeling and so on. He has won the first prize for outstanding scientific and technological achievements of the Ministry of Land and Resources of the People's Republic of China, the second prize for scientific and technological progress of the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC), the outstanding scientific and technological achievement award of the Ministry of Petroleum of People's Republic of China (PRC) and the outstanding scientific and technological achievement award of the Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Committee. He presided over many theoretical and applied scientific research projects and published dozens of papers and monographs. At present, he is a member of the Quantitative Geography Committee of China Geographical Society, the Policy Simulation Committee of China, the Education Science Committee of China GIS Association, the director of Jiangsu Geographical Society, the member of Jiangsu Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System Society, and the member of the Remote Sensing and Telemetry Committee of Jiangsu Surveying and Mapping Society.
