1936 joined the vanguard of national liberation in China.

/kloc-joined the eighth route army in 0/938, and China in the same year.

During War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's period, he served as monitor, captain and political instructor of the Second Military Division Teaching Team of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei Military Region, chief of the cadre education unit of the 19th Regiment Political Department, secretary and political assistant of the General Branch of the Regiment directly under him, and director of the 43rd Regiment Political Department. Participated in the Hundred Regiments War, anti-"nibbling" and other battles.

During the War of Liberation, he served as deputy director of the Liaison Department of the Political Department of the Rehe Military Region, political commissar of the Military Industry Department of the Cha Military Region in Ji Zhe, political commissar of the Guard Corps, political commissar of the Artillery Brigade of the Liao Military Region in Ji Zhe, director of the Political Department of the First Artillery Division of the Fourth Field Army, and deputy political commissar of the Fifth Division. Participated in the battles of Gaositai, Xingrenbao, Chicheng, Tashan and Pingsui.

After the founding of People's Republic of China (PRC), he successively served as the political commissar of China People's Liberation Army Division, Minister of Naval Shipbuilding, Minister of Naval Ship Repair, Deputy Chief of Staff of Naval Command, Minister of Naval Equipment, Deputy Director of the Military Management Committee of the Sixth Ministry of Machinery Industry, Deputy Commander of the North Sea Fleet and Deputy Chief of Staff of the Navy.
