Because of the murder of Li, vice chairman of the National People's Congress on February 2, 1996, the State Council and the Central Military Commission later decided to dismiss "those who have direct leadership responsibilities" (including the political commissar of the Beijing First Armed Police Corps and other senior commanders) (Zhu Shuguang and Yu Linxiang succeeded them respectively).

He is a deputy to the Eighth National People's Congress and a member of the Standing Committee of the Tenth Beijing Municipal People's Congress. /kloc-0 was awarded the rank of Senior Colonel in September 1988, and/kloc-0 was promoted to the rank of Major General in February 1993. On April 2, 2003, he died in Beijing at the age of 65.
