Yin Chao Temple originated from the beautiful voice of Buddha and Bodhisattva, which is called tidal sound. The second volume of the Shurangama Sutra says: Buddhism preaches compassion, sympathizes with Ananda and all the people, and makes a tidal sound to tell the good people. Tide also refers to the voice of avalokitesvara. Chaoyin Temple, the main hall is for the three saints in the West, Sakyamuni in the South China Sea, Guanyin, Dizang and other Buddhas, with eighteen arhats on both sides and meditation rooms between the east and the west. The east wing is Wenchang, Lei Gong, Shi Xianggong and Liu Yonggao, the founders of Chunyang, and the west wing has three living rooms. Enter the Maitreya Buddha Hall and watch Maitreya Buddha and the statue of Wei Tuo. There is a big iron tripod outside the temple. Buddhist nun covers an area of more than 3,640 square meters.

1937 when Japanese imperialism invaded Shanghai, the east wing was hit by Japanese artillery shells, which blew a huge hole in the wall and destroyed doors and windows. 1940 After entering buddhist nun, Master Bao 'ang gradually restored it.

After liberation, the temple was used as a workshop and warehouse, and the buildings in the temple were seriously damaged. 1982 resumed service. 1989, construction of lecture hall and gratitude tower began, and it was completed in early October. The lecture hall has two floors, the upper one is a Tibetan lecture hall, the lower one is a lecture hall, and there is a jade Buddha in the middle. On June1992165438+1October 14, the opening ceremony was held for the Jade Buddha in the lecture hall. Monk Zhen Chan, president of the Buddhist Association of the city and abbot of the Jade Buddha Temple, presided over the opening ceremony and held a three-day lecture ceremony in the lecture hall.

Gratitude Tower is 5 1 m high and is divided into 7 floors. Climb up to overlook the East China Sea and the western city. Building a tower of gratitude is a great wish of Mr. Bao 'ang, which means that there are four kinds of gratitude, one is to serve the country, the other is to report to the Buddha, the third is to report to the public, and the fourth is to repay the parents. Now it is a Buddhist pilgrimage site and a good tourist attraction.

1982, Chaoyin Temple was approved for opening and renovation. After years of transformation and construction, its scale has gradually recovered and its face has taken on a new look. At present, the main buildings are Wei Tuo Hall, Daxiong Hall, Tongyuan Hall, Tibetan Scripture Building, Gratitude Tower, Sengliao Hall and Tangqi Hall. There are eighteen arhats beside the Buddha in the Hall of the Great Hero. There is a statue of Guanyin with 4,000 hands in Tongyuantang, which is full of kindness. On both sides are thirty-two bodies of Guanyin Bodhisattva. Thanksgiving Tower stands in the air and becomes the first tower in Pudong New Area. There are Buddhist classics such as Dazheng Tibetan in the temple, and there is also a monument to the reconstruction of Chaoyin Temple.

The current abbot, Master Bao 'ang, is 90 years old. He was born in Yuyao, Zhejiang. 1923 He became a monk, studied under Master Yamato, and served as the executive director of Shanghai Buddhist Association and the president of Pudong New Area Buddhist Association.
