In the Western Zhou Dynasty, it was the land of seven people, and in the Qin Dynasty, it belonged to Minzhong County. Jian 'an County was established in the early years of Jian 'an in the Eastern Han Dynasty (A.D. 196) and is one of the five earliest counties in Fujian history. Jian 'an County was established by Emperor Wu Jing of the Three Kingdoms in Yong 'an for three years (AD 260).
