In 2002, he worked as an associate professor in the Department of Information Resources Management of School of Public Administration of Sichuan University, and in 2004, he worked as a tutor for postgraduate students majoring in library science.

Malei has been engaged in teaching and research in the field of information organization and retrieval, published dozens of academic papers and participated in one monograph.
