Information on pollution of the Yellow River
Water pollution in the Yellow River basin is getting more and more serious. In 2003, 78.6% of the rivers in the Yellow River Basin exceeded Class III water quality standards, which was higher than 68.8% in 1994. The worst years of water quality in recent ten years are 1997 and 2002, with the river length exceeding the standard accounting for 80% and 80.6% respectively.

Compared with the water quality of the whole basin, the pollution development trend of the main stream of the Yellow River is more serious. After 2000, the water quality declined sharply, reaching 78. 1% in 2003. Compared with 1994, the excessive river length increased by 20.7%. At present, the most polluted reaches of the Yellow River are mainly concentrated in Shizuishan to Wuqiao, Sanhu Estuary to Lamawan and Tongguan to Sanmenxia.

Extended data:

The main problems of the Yellow River pollution:

1, the upper reaches belong to arid and semi-arid areas, with low precipitation rate, and the middle reaches are the main recharge areas, but the soil erosion is serious, the seasonal changes are great, the downstream area is small, and the recharge amount is small;

2. The population growth in the basin is fast, and the population growth rate far exceeds the grain growth rate;

3. In recent decades, with the development of society, the industrial and urban water consumption along the Yellow River has been increasing, and the irrigation area of the Yellow River has been expanding;

4. The reservoir regulation capacity is low, and the water resources management is not unified;

5. The low water fee can't arouse people's awareness of water saving, and the industrial and agricultural water is wasted;

6. Environmental pollution has greatly reduced the utilization rate of the Yellow River water.
