As the founder of the humanistic psychology society, Ferguson edited and published a widely acclaimed scientific newsletter, Brain and Heart Bulletin, from 1975 to 1996. During her tenure on the board of directors of the Institute of Thinking Science, she won several honorary degrees, and became friends with inventor and theorist Buckminster Fuller, spiritual mentor ram dass (author), Nobel Prize winner in chemistry Elijah Puligaozin and billionaire ted turner (founder of CNN). Former US Vice President Al Gore was also influenced by Ferguson. When he was a senator, he joined her informal organization and was later invited to meet at the White House.
