Zhang Wentian (long-term alias Luo Fu) 1900 was born in a well-off peasant family in Nanhui County, Jiangsu Province on August 30th. After the May 4th Movement broke out, he devoted himself to the student movement, began to engage in literary creation and translation, commented on foreign literary masterpieces, and later joined the Nanjing Youth China Society. 1920- 1923 studied and worked in Tokyo, Japan and San Francisco, USA.
Joined China in June, 1925. In the winter of the same year, he was sent to Sun Yat-sen University and Professor Hong College in Moscow to study, and served as a teaching assistant and translator, and also served as a reporter for the Oriental Department of the Communist International.
