The eldest son, Major General Zhang Xiaoyang, is the dean of the Foreign Languages Institute of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

The second son, Major General Zhang Lianyang, served as the director of the General Military Agency.

The third son, General Zhang Haiyang, is currently the political commissar and party secretary of the Second Artillery Corps of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

The fourth son, Major General Zhang Ningyang, served as the Deputy Minister of the Military Transportation Department of the General Logistics Department.

Major General Shou Song Xiao, son-in-law, is currently the Director of War Theory and Strategy Research Department of PLA Academy of Military Sciences.
