Li Zhongquan's three encounters with his mother.
Beipaihechang, not far from the northeast of Daxian County, Sichuan Province, is my hometown. 19 15 12.24 I was born in a poor peasant family in Zengjiawan Village, Beipaihe Farm. My family has been farming for generations. My parents raised our five brothers and three sisters. There is not enough land to eat at home, so we live by renting land. Childhood, almost all spent in hunger. At that time, warlords imposed exorbitant taxes and levies, and their family life was very poor. My father and brother had to carry grain over mountains and mountains to change salt in the county town 120 miles away to make a living. Nevertheless, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to go to school. As a student of General Zhang Aiping, I was inspired.

In the early 1930s, under the blackmail of warlords, people in their hometown had almost no chance to live. At this time, the ground thundered loudly. Comrade Xu led the Red Fourth Army into Sichuan, and with the strong cooperation of the local party organizations in eastern Sichuan and the Red Army guerrillas, the Sichuan-Shaanxi Soviet Area was established in one fell swoop! As soon as the red flag was played, it echoed in all directions, and the working people took up swords and guns to participate in the revolution.

Encouraged by the revolutionary situation, our family of nine defected to the Red Army. The eldest brother Li Zhongpan led the Red Guards to cooperate with the Red Army, the second brother Li Zhongchi dragged the sick body and the fourth brother Li to raise food for the Red Army to lead the way, and the fifth sister Li led the women's team to rescue the wounded.

1933 10 I served as a political commissar of a large group of Red Army guerrillas in Pujiachang, and returned to my hometown, Beipaihe, to mobilize the masses to fight local tyrants and divide fields, to establish local political power, to rapidly develop the Red Army ranks, and to cooperate with the main Red Army in marching. At the end of this year, Sichuan warlords headed by Liu Xiang began to counterattack crazily, brutally killing the families of the Red Army and the revolutionary masses. My family is a famous local red fort household. After the Red Army left, the reactionaries first "bloodwashed" such a revolutionary family. Therefore, when the main force of the Red Army was evacuated, parents resolutely took their children and the whole family joined the Red Army.

Wherever the Red Army goes, they follow it, leading the way, delivering letters, raising food, cooking, washing clothes and taking care of the sick and wounded for the Red Army. Soon, my father was seriously ill, and like the Red Army soldiers who died heroically there, he was buried in the same place on the bank of the Qingshan River in Lianghekou, with the same clothes. My eldest brother, Li Zhongpan, was then the political commissar of Ren Hongjun Red Guards Corps, and gave his young life gloriously in the revolutionary struggle before the Red Army's Long March. Mother, brother and sister also died on the way to the Long March. 1July 7, 936, my mother fell on the Long March. When she swallowed her last breath, she told her, "Follow the Red Army!"

When I started the Long March, my mother was 53 years old, only a few inches long. In this way, she moved her little feet, dragged her younger brothers and sisters, and was sandwiched between the families of the Red Army and some people in the base areas, from eastern Sichuan to western Sichuan. Her legs are swollen like purple radish, her hands are pressing each other, and a poisonous sore has grown on her left lower abdomen. Even so, she crossed four major rivers (Jialing River, Fujiang River, Qujiang River and Minjiang River) and snow-capped mountains, and walked through nearly two cities in Wan Li step by step in a year and three months.

On the Long March, I met my mother three times, and her voice and smile often appeared in my mind. The first time I met my mother was in April 1934. When she saw me on the road, she shouted, "Son! Where have you been? " I talked with my mother for a long time. Although both mother and son knew the news of my father's death, they kept it from each other. Finally she told me, and then both mother and son burst into tears.

The second time I met my mother, it was a day in March of 1936, and the place was Baoxing City, Xikang Province. At that time, Zhang conspired to set up another central committee, split the party and ordered the Red Fourth Front Army to go north and south at will, which led to the Red Fourth Front Army crossing the snowy mountains and grasslands three times. At this time, I was preparing to enter the grass for the second time. That night, I was on the second floor of Mu Mansion, observing the terrain outside through a small window. Suddenly, I saw a familiar figure limping with three children on crutches. That night, mother and son talked a lot and stayed up late. My mother knows the righteousness deeply and believes that she is on the right path. She told me again and again that I should do my best to do my work well and not be distracted by them. In the face of such a strong mother, a few words of comfort I once thought have already been drowned by tears. What problems can I solve for my mother under such circumstances? She didn't know that her second brother Li Zhongchi died in the battle, her sister Zhong Zhen starved to death while crossing the grass, and her husband also died.

The last time I saw my mother was in June 1936, when I was in Donger, Danba County, Xikang Province. At that time, I was the political commissar of the Second Independent Division of Otsukawa, the Red Fourth Army, and I was on my way to March. At this meeting, my mother didn't say a word for a long time and stopped asking me anything. As we all know, it is difficult for her to solve any problems under the current conditions, and it is difficult to see her again this time. The correspondent was extremely embarrassed to see me and hesitated for a while and said, "Otherwise, I will stay and take care of my aunt!" " ""No, the Red Army in the north is indispensable. " Seeing that I was a little touched, my mother said, "I can walk." I've been here for two years, but I still can't get to northern Shaanxi. "Looking at her haggard and sickly body and young brothers and sisters, I feel as bad as a knife when I think of the severe journey and terrible situation they will face in the future. I can't bear to leave my seriously ill mother and young siblings behind, but the independent division of the Red Army can't lack political commissar.

The line is getting farther and farther, and it is almost over. I left my war horse and some dry food, and rode away in tears, unable to bear to look back. In a few days, we are going to climb the snow-capped mountains with snow all year round. How will mothers and brothers and sisters face it? ...

Here comes the bad news. It turned out that with amazing perseverance and the help of war horses, mother and sister-in-law climbed over the snow-capped mountains. But when I got to Xikang grassland, my mother couldn't walk any further. She pulled out the hair clasp on her head, punctured the abscess on her abdomen, and black and yellow pus poured out.

1July 7, 936, my mother was critically ill.

Thankfully, our four brothers and sisters finally completed the Long March and arrived in northern Shaanxi smoothly. 1937 met in Baota shan, Yan 'an during the Spring Festival. There is a photo of our four brothers and sisters in Yan 'an. That year, I was the oldest, 22 years old, and my eldest brother and second brother had passed away. My fourth brother Li, 18 years old, and my fifth brother Li Zhongheng, 15 years old. When I was nine years old, I was Li Zhongqiu, the younger sister of the Little Red Army.

Since then, we have regarded the Party as our parents. Always follow the party.
