Beijing Foreign Studies University, referred to as "North Second Foreign University", is a national key university jointly established by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the National Tourism Administration and the Beijing Municipal Government. It is one of the first universities in China to award bachelor's and master's degrees, one of the most famous foreign language universities in China and the highest tourism institution in China. It was personally created by Premier Zhou Enlai at 1964.

Beijing Foreign Studies University (hereinafter referred to as Beijing Foreign Studies University) is affiliated to the Ministry of Education of People's Republic of China (PRC). It is the first batch of "2 1 1 Project" construction units in China and has been selected as one of the six "Small-scale Pilot Universities" of the Ministry of Finance. As a member of the International Federation of University Translation Colleges, it has a graduate school. It is a national key university in China with a long history, the largest number of teaching languages and a complete school level, and is known as the "cradle of diplomats of the Republic".
