Sakhiagiin Elbegdorj was born in March 1963, and graduated from the Military and Political Academy in Lviv, Ukraine. He studied at Harvard University in the United States and knew English and Russian. Elbegdorj was the chairman of the Mongolian League from 1989 to 199 1. 1994 to 1996 was the chairman of the national democratic party, and 1996 to 1998 was the vice chairman of the national great Hural. He served as prime minister from 65438 to 0998 and again from 2004 to 2006. He served as chairman of the Democratic Party from 2005 to 2008. 1992, 1996 and 2008 were elected as members of the National Great Hural for three times. In June 2009, elbegdorj took office as President of Mongolia.

Elbegdorj is friendly to China and visited China as the chairman of the Democratic Party in 2006. 20 10 from April 28th to May 3rd, President elbegdorj paid a state visit to China and attended the opening ceremony of the Shanghai World Expo.

Elbegdorj is married and has five children.
