Brief introduction of Shanghai Art Institute
1925 was established in June. It was formed by the merger of Shanghai Art Normal University located at Huangjiaque Road outside Xiaoximen and Oriental Art College located at Bai Pu Road (now Taicang Road). The school is located in Hongkou Sports Club Road (now East Sports Club Road). The school has painting department, music department and art education department, with Wu Zhihui as the principal at first, and Zhou, who is good at oil painting, as the principal later. Later, the principal system was changed to membership system. Members of the school affairs include Zhou, Guo Qinchu, Dai and Zhu Xianyu, and Zhou is the standing committee member. Feng Zikai, Ni Yide, Ding, Li Chaoshi, Pan Tianshou, Zhu, Zhu Lesan, Gao Xiaoshan, Sha Fuqing, Sun, He Lianqin, Fu Yanchang, Wei Zhongle and Pan Boying. Jiang Danshu, Guo Bokuan, Zhang Lianhui, Yang Shouyu, Yu, Su Bennan (above are manual teachers), Chen Wangdao, Lv Cheng (above are aesthetic teachers), Tian Han, Xiao Tuigong, Feng Naichao, Zheng, Zhang Ziping, Zhang and Wang (above are literature teachers). Closed in June 1928. The goal of this school is to train art teachers. Together with its predecessors, Shanghai Art College Normal School and Oriental Art College, it trained more than 800 art teachers.
