On June 25th, 1932, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs got news from ioc headquarters that the puppet Manchukuo was not approved by the International Olympic Committee to participate in the Olympic Games, and the Chinese Olympic Committee sent an urgent telegram asking for accommodation. On June 26th, I received a reply from the preparatory meeting, and the two contestants who agreed to register in China were Liu Changchun and Yu Xiwei. On July 6th and 7th, the Shanghai press, sports circles and various organizations held a farewell party for Liu Changchun, which was attended by nearly 2,000 people. On July 8th, Liu Changchun and Song set off from Shanghai by cruise ship and went to Los Angeles, USA, to launch the maiden voyage of China Olympic Games. The cruise ship arrived in Los Angeles on July 29th and held an opening ceremony on the afternoon of 30th.
After floating at sea for three weeks, Liu Changchun's physical strength was greatly affected. So he originally applied for three events, and he only participated in 100 meters and 200 meters, and 400 meters did not participate because of physical exhaustion. The two events I participated in were the last in the group and failed to advance.
After the game, Liu Changchun was unable to return home because of insufficient travel expenses. Later, he returned to China with the donation of local overseas Chinese.
