China Calligraphers Association is a people's organization led by China and composed of calligraphers of all ethnic groups in China. It is a national professional organization composed of national calligraphers, seal engravers, calligraphy theorists, calligraphy educators, organizers and managers of calligraphy activities, and a member of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles.

1February, the Preparatory Committee of China Book Association held its second meeting in Beijing on1February 2. The meeting decided that the National Congress of China Calligraphers and the inaugural meeting of China Calligraphy Association will be held in the first half of 198 1.

In April, "Calligraphy Exhibition of Past Dynasties" was held in the China History Museum, showing the works of famous contemporary calligraphers and some ancient inscriptions.
In May, the first national congress of China Calligraphers Association was held in the Great Hall of the People from May 5 to 9. Shu Tong was elected as the first president of China Calligraphers Association. Xu Deheng, Vice Chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC), sent a congratulatory message, and Fang Yi, Vice Premier of the State Council, received the delegates.
In May, according to the articles of association of China Book Association, some provincial and municipal book associations were renamed as China Book Association Branch. These branches are: China Book Association Guangdong Branch, China Book Association Shanghai Branch, China Book Association Shandong Branch, China Book Association Jiangsu Branch, China Book Association Ningxia Branch, China Book Association Henan Branch and China Book Association Hebei Branch.
On May 1 1, the first standing council of China Book Association was held.
In July, the "Exhibition Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of People's Republic of China (PRC)" sponsored by China Book Association was held in China Art Museum.
