Wei Yan once proposed the famous "Wonder of Woods Valley" to Zhuge Liang and suggested that Zhuge Liang attack Chang 'an and Tongguan. However, Zhuge Liang, who has always been cautious, objected that he could not give full play to his talents and was dissatisfied. After Zhuge Liang's death, Wei Yan burned the plank road on his way home from the army because he didn't want to be bound by Yang Yi's long history, but he was defeated and fled because of his subordinates' disobedience, and was beheaded by Ma Dai sent by Yang Yi. Wei Chang and Wei Rong also died under the disorderly arrows.
