The bodhisattva, the king of earth treasure, vowed: "I will never become a Buddha until the hell is empty." He made a big wish, bodhisattva, endured the sins of six sentient beings, and his wisdom is like the sea. Because hell is the most bitter place among the six roads, there is no other hell. It is merciful for the Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha to choose the incarnation of hell to save evil spirits and all sufferings.
Yan Luowang, known as Yama right in scripture, is also merciful, but all sentient beings have karma, so they should go to hell. Yan Luowang's concept originated from ancient Indian mythology, and he was regarded as the son of the sun god. Because he was a demigod, he was the first person to die. Therefore, Yamaraja became the king of Hades.
Later, due to the spread of Buddhism in China, Buddhism in China began to rise. Yan Luowang changed from hades to the fifth of the ten halls of hades. Although rights have been lowered in Buddhism, they are still deeply rooted in the hearts of China people. Therefore, the two forces are not comparable, but they are both gods who save all beings.
Extended data:
The Tibetan Bodhisattva has already become a Buddha. Because of his deep sorrow and desire, he turned to the benevolent to sail, and appeared as an equal-sense bodhisattva, ranking first among many bodhisattvas with Manjusri, Pu Xian, Guanyin and Maitreya.
Although Yan Luowang has converted to Buddhism, he is a practicing bodhisattva, and his merits and demerits are far from those of other bodhisattvas, such as Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
The bodhisattva like ksitigarbha appears in all the worlds in the ten directions. Earth-hidden bodhisattva is boundless, and six ways are universal. It can be said that it is everywhere. The underworld managed by Yan Luowang is confined to a small world, and can only reward good and punish evil in hell and hungry ghosts.
It can be seen that there is a world of difference between Bodhisattva and Yan.
