I. Introduction:
No one sleeps tonight is the most famous aria in the opera Turandot adapted from pantomime by the famous Italian composer Puccini Giacomao. The background of the story is that Prince Calaf of Tatar asks Princess Turandot to guess his identity.
Second, the plot brief introduction
Because her grandmother died tragically after being humiliated by the invading Tatars, Turandot came up with an idea to let foreign suitors die in order to avenge her grandmother. She did three riddles. If she can guess correctly, she can be a son-in-law. If she can't guess correctly, she will be beheaded. The princes of all countries ended up like this, and the prince of Persia was beheaded because he didn't guess correctly; Prince Calaf of Tatar dressed up in disguise, but guessed the riddle. Although Calaf guessed the riddle, Turandot refused to keep his promise. So Calaf made a pact with Turandot, asking her to guess his real name the next day, otherwise, she would keep her promise. Turandot asked Calaf's maid for information. The maid committed suicide to keep a secret. Finally, Calaf explained his identity, which made Turandot feel awe and willing to commit himself to him. No one sleeps tonight was sung by Calaf when he asked Turandot to guess his identity that night.
Third, the creative background
/kloc-in the summer of 0/920, Puccini officially decided to rewrite Princess Turandot, which describes the love and hate between men and women, into an opera. He asked playwright adami and journalist Lei Natuo Simone to start rewriting the script. Adami once wrote "C.Gozze" on 1903, so he can still grasp the plot of "Princess Turandot". As for Simone, he was sent to Beijing by the Evening Post in 19 12, and he knows some customs in China. Many surprising and appropriate China backgrounds in Princess Turandot should be his suggestions, and the scenes of the three ministers in the first scene of the second act may be entirely written by him.
Turandot, three-act opera, created by Puccini 1924 (unfinished). This is Puccini's last opera. Cancer took his life before he finished the duet he planned as the climax of the play. The last scene of this work was changed to Alfano at 1926. The script of this work was written by adami and Simone based on the script of the same name by Italian playwright Gozzi.
Fourth, the lyrics of the song.
Italy
No one sleeps tonight. No one sleeps tonight.
You are pure, oh, princess, you are pure.
Guard your lover and your Spanish friends!
I have a mystery in my heart. My name is Sapula!
No, no, I want a sunny day!
He is my son! He is my son!
My name is, my name is, my name is, my name is, my name is! )
Delegua, oh, Nott! Tramon Tate, Steyr! Tramon Tate, Steyr!
Long live Alba Vincero! Vincero. Vincero.
English
No one can sleep! ... no one can sleep!
Even you, oh, princess, in your cold room,
Look at those stars trembling with love and hope.
But my secret is hidden in my heart, and no one will know my name ...
Don't! ... no! ... when the sun shines, I will tell you with your mouth. My kiss will dissolve and make you my silence! ...
The chorus of women:
No one will know his name, and we must, alas, die.
Prince:
Disappear, night! Gather around, stars! Gather around, stars! It's dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!
Chinese
Nobody sleeps! Nobody sleeps!
Princess, you too,
In the cold boudoir,
Wait and see anxiously
Starlight shining with love and hope!
But the secret is hidden in my heart,
Nobody knows my name!
When the dawn shines on the earth and kisses you
I just made it clear to you!
Unlock the secret with my kiss,
You marry me!
Woman's voice (mysterious and distant):
No one will know his name.
And we all have to die, alas!
Caraver:
Disappear, night! The stars fall,
The stars are sinking! I will win at dawn!
I will win! I will win!
